In this EMUTOM lesson Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) is defined as the combined efforts of employers, employees and society to improve the health and wellbeing of people at work. The lesson starts with a case study of a hospital. The workplace directly influences the physical, mental, economic and social well-being of workers and in turn the health of their families, communities and society. It offers an ideal setting and infrastructure to support the promotion of health of a large audience. Also in this lesson: The background of workplace health promotion and the European Reference Model. After this lesson the learner knows the definitions of health promotion and workplace health promotion (WHP) and the learner will be able to give examples of WHP. The learner is also able to recognize the necessity of WHP and to identifie organizations that play a key role in WHP.
